Information about the Classes in Battlefield 2
Soldiers equiped with the Anti-tank kit have the tools needed for anti-vehicle operations. Each anti-tank kit comes with a rocket launcher, which can be used to destroy tanks, light armor, small vehicles, and stationary stations (AA/AT). Anti-tank soldiers also come equipped with a submachine gun, for personal defense. The submachine guns are not powerful and accurate enough to be used in an offensive role, but more as a personal defense weapon should you find yourself confronted in close range with an enemy. You are also equipped with a pistol, so if you find your self at the end of a clip, use this to finish off the enemy.

The Assault kit is a heavy anti-infantry kit. You are equipped with an assault rifle, equipped with a grenade launcher. You are also given a pistol and a knife. You also get a smoke grenade. These are extremely handy in disquising your squad's advancement through a choke point, or can make for a stealthy retreat, or even a distraction. Many people underestimate the value of the smoke grenades.

As an engineer you will be repairing vehicles and other objects when they become damaged with your handy wrench. You will also be using anti-tank (AT) mines to block off choke points and roads to vehicles. You are equipped with a shotgun for personal defense. The shotgun isn't accurate so it shouldn't be used in an offensive role, but as a close-quarters personal defensive weapon. You are also equipped with a pistol, knife, and hand grenades.

As a medic you will be a lifesaver (no, not the candy). With your magic medic bag and magic defibrillator. With the all healing medic bag you can heal your team mates when they become injured. Riding in vehicles will turn your vehicle into an "ambulance" to heal friendlies within a small radius. And you can revive your team mates when they are gunned down and "Critically wounded" with your defibrillator ("Shock paddles"), if you can get to them in time. There are rumors that the shock paddles have been used in hand-to-hand combat to kill enemy soldiers with it's powerful jolt. Your primary weapon will be an assault rifle, as well as a knife, pistol, and hand grenades.

As a sniper, you will most likely be playing as a lone wolf. Take up position in a secluded area, and fire on unsuspection enemies. With your ghile suit you can blend in with grass and the terrain. When taking up position, keep in mind your profile against the sky, don't camp at the top of hill, you'll be much easier to spot when people can see you against the sky, while if you keep ground behind you, people won't see your outline against the sky.
