Thank you
I was going to do Aeronautical, and I went to several university open days to learn more about them. I went to Bristol, and I found out that you can learn about more than one subject. I looked at the list, picked Aeronautical and thought that Electric & Electronic sounded pretty good as well. Went to the Aeronautics one, was impressed. Then I went to the Electronic one. The lecturer put together such a brilliant presentation and put together such a convincing argument for doing Electronics that I immediately, in the time frame of that presentation, changed my mind and wanted to do Electronics, after thinking about doing Aeronautical for the better part of two years.
His arguments were
A) Electronic engineers are in short supply in England
B) It's relatively well paid (I already knew this)
C, and this is the big one)
You can go into almost any company AND use the skills you learned during uni. If I had ended up doing Aeronautical, I could probably go into about 5-6 companies at best, WHILE using my skills. I could go into a lot of other companies just because I'm an engineer and therefore think differently to others, but I wouldn't have applied my knowledge of fluid dynamics etc.
Whereas with doing an Electronics degree, every large company in the world has some sort of system that needs building/implementing, so my time at uni would be far less wasted.
But even so, I'm glad that you have managed to do well with your degree, even if you haven't touched a circuit ^^
I'm doing a Masters (MEng) in this, with a placement year in the middle... 5 years of studying. Should be fun ^^
