A shout into the silence and darkness

Dear OT,

This is not a farewell thread for me. I've still been around lurking and looking out across the empty halls of OT and feeling very strongly for the memories and heartfelt words which, while written many years ago, still resound so warmly in my heart. My guestbook is just such a solemn place.

Of course, being one not merely content to think back to the "good ol' days" and regard OT and AAO Tracker as a bygone age, I am making this thread as a call for those who may also still be lurking and who also share my sentiment and memories to please send me a private message so that we can work out a way to stay in contact in the future. So many of my friends are now perhaps forever beyond my reach, I don't want that to be the case for those who at this moment I can still have hope for. You know who you are if you reading this.

Take care and peace be with you all,
HuronKing

Just stay acive, not so many players playing Americas Army 2 at the moment. So you'll make new mates very fast ;)

And you would got more reactions when you posted this in AA2 forums instead of the (dead) offtopic section.

Yes, but I think there was a specific reason he chose Offtopic to post in, it was such a good community full of bright people that voiced their opinions, in most cases strongly, and argued their ground exceptionally. I will not pretend to be one of those in the peak of Offtopic, but I certainly remember the vibrancy and life of a bygone Offtopic from quite a while past.

Yes DeRidder, DawnKilla is quite correct.

Back when America's Army was popular, the OT section was a self-contained community unto itself. While we were all ultimately brought together by our mutual love of the game and deep-seated respect for the armed forces we stayed because of the thrilling exchange of ideas. The level of diversity of opinions and the manners in which they were expressed made this forum something really interesting and special. It truly was an intellectual free-for-all.

And that's not to say we were stuck up either. We often times got incredibly silly about it.

When a forum changes the way you think and the way you decide to live your life, you know it made an impact and shouldn't be forgotten lightly.

And JustAZN I love you too.

I still lurk time to time.

The funs went out of it, damn just a shame that OT totally ignored the AA side, but still died with the rest of it.
Was really good for exchanging ideas and just bits of mayhem occasionally lol

I still look in here from time to time, I miss the debate with Redneck - especially now with the state of the EU.

I going to upload a picture of me when I can work out how to do it

I really miss the days when I got home and logged in so I could have a talk with everyone. I lurk over here every once in a while but it's no longer the same thing

I wouldn't be lying if I said I learned a great deal of stuff in here. In fact this was the first place where I had the guts to go ahead and start discussing in English about a myriad of subjects. These days I'm doing that almost every single day - or at least a couple of times a week - and, honestly, I can say that the skills I use for doing that today, in a way or another, started to mature in here. I might have learned English at school, like everyone does, but it was here where I started to put what I learnt into practice and, hence, this place played a huge role in what I am and what I do today - kind of, at least.

Anyway, just giving you guys the heads up - for those who care - that I managed to get inside what is the currently best Law Faculty in the Portuguese-speaking world :)

@ Canky, indeed. I was actually thinking about writing and opening a thread about the current EU crisis the other day, which I guess could be interesting considering I'm in Portugal and I'm living all of this - unfortunately - at first hand, but I was afraid not so many people would post and, to be honest, I've been short in time lately. Plus, on top of that, Redneck is no longer in here. He would be the perfect person to spice up the thread

I remember the first time I found out you were from Portugal. I thought you were some stupid english speaking kid who wasn't paying attention in school to their grammar and spelling. I was VERY rude about it. You then told me very insultingly (and deservedly) that I was a "know-it-all-moron" that assumed too much.

I learned a LOT from that experience and began to look at people differently (and not just you). I've taken MANY life lessons from my experiences in this forum into my daily walk and greatly miss the intensity of the discussions that we used to have. I have occasionally about starting an "i told you so" thread on MMGW or the pitfalls of socialist societies just because........ 8)

BTW - has ANYONE heard from ANGLEBOOT recently. I miss that crazy old bastard. LOL
