My old man loved firing the SCAR-H. And it's funny how he told me long ago that the XM8 was a piece of crap in testing and look now, the XM8 is not being contracted.

Yeah... although it is still not clear what will be the outcome for the OICW Increment One (the name of the "project" which should have been led to the production of a new assault rifle for the US Army) as it has been freezed this summer (July).

Anyway, I know the M203 grenade launcher will be replaced by the AG36 (to be issued with M320 denomination) and troops should start receiving this one very soon: http://world.guns.ru/grenade/gl17-e.htm (and check here for news http://archives.zinester.com/11390/52922.html ).

For what concerns the assault rifle, I have heard rumors that the "refusbishment" of old M4/M16 carbines/rifles by H&K is going to be expensive and not costly-effective. I would rather prefer to see these on the battlefields:

H&K 416 (5.56NATO)

As you can see, in the most recent versions there is much more plastic (the first pic includes the same FN2000 grenade launcher, as the EGLM has not been delivered until now... may be we should see the H&K M320 at the beginning, the same model which will substitute the Army's 203).

3.5kg empty?

I would have thought it might ahve been lighter than that, but you can't argue the length of the weapon, 85cm long. I'd iamgine it's a great weapon to manoevure in even the tightest corriders.

quick question, this thread caught my eye from out over in the offtopic section :hehe: is that the same gun out of BF2 (if any of you have played the new expansion) as in the SF expansion spec ops unlock u can get? looks very similar and sexy, is very fun to use in BF2 as well :rolling:
ill go and see if i can find some BF2 model pics of it for u guys who dont have it to look at...

If cosmetics is what determines the greatness of a weapon, then certainly the US Military is wrong... But, who cares if it looks like a toy or not.

I think the stock is a little strange, but that's just me. The rest of it looks great. And from what I've heard, that 7.62 will be the pride of many soldiers longing for a weapon with stopping power.

FN SCAR's are my faveourite assault rifle

I love the looks, the stock, the modularity, the fact you can get 5.56 and 7.62 versions


Im trying to think how I could make an Airsoft one.. no one makes kits for it..
