IRL, G36C or M4A1

Poll

Which carbine would you chose?

IRL, which one of these carbines would you rather use? And for those who have fired the weapons, could you please list the strengths and weaknesses of each. Oh, and the strengths and weaknesses can include how versitale and open the carbines are to attachments.

I've never fired a gun and actually prefer the M4 in most cases nowadays in BF2, but if someone gave me the option. I'd pick the G36c easy.

It's just a sexy bit of kit.

G36C - 5.56mm NATO round
M4A1 - 5.56mm NATO round

---
both have same firepower

Both are equiped with the Pictanny rail mod system to allow for easy modification. The M4A1 has a longer barrel making it not as effective in close quarters. Also, the G36C is made of composite fibers making it very strong & light - aswell, it does not require cleaning as much as the M4A1 to maintain it's reliability. The optics on the G36 series are optional, but the downside to the Reflex site on the G36 is it's short battery life, which means you need to carry batterys in the field.

Both guns can take the same type of attachments since they use the Pictanny rail mod system, which means you could take the scope off of your M4 and put it on your G36 with ease.

Hope that helps

How do the weapons handle recoil though? I've heard that the M4A1 has quite a bit of recoil, but I'm not sure about the G36C.

Heckler & Koch ftw!

Those HK weapons can usually be dragged through the mud, shaken off, and still continue to fire.

My Uncle was in the Army,Marine Corps, and Air force for about 3 years each and he said that the M4 is a good weapon.but in real life id rather have a m4 because I think it is a powerful assault rifle(for at least powerfull for the Civillian world).

Heh, not really. A M4A1 is basically the same as an AR-15 which i shoot quite regularly. It makes since that since the G-36C is smaller & lighter, it will have more recoil since the energy can't be absorbed as well... hope that makes any scence...

depends for what. for long range combats i would use the m15. for closer quorter combat or tactical i would use the g36. is this talking in real life or for bf 2?

EDIT: as for recoil. assult guns liek these have very very little recoil. ive had experince with them. now if you fire the berret or a revolver, that thing takes your arm right off ur bone. ( if you dont have the strencgth or dont hold it right)

I dont get it Echo but the M4 is a small gun compared to the M16,and DieHard you must mean the M16 cause there is no M15.

now i'm pretty sure about this.

the m-16, m-4, ar-15, sopmod are all compsed of 2 component parts. the lower and the upper.

the "lower" is the a-15 and contains the firing bolt mechanisms and the only variation is the ability to select your fire rate. in which civilian models is semi only.

the difference is in the "upper"s. like the m-16 "upper" has a longer barrel and had a handle on the top and iron sights. the m-4 is a shorter barrel and has a rail on top to mount a laser sight.

and they do not have much recoil at all compared to an ak-47 or 74.

(do not quote me on anything, i guess about half this sh*t)

An anagram for Walker Texas Ranger is KARATE WRANGLER SEX.
I don't know what that is, but it sounds AWESOME.

well there really is no diffrence between an m15, m16, and m4. there all the same just used for diffrent things. yes some do have a longer and shorter berrel. only diffrence probably. the m16 is good for its m203. or long berrel. the m15 in my opinion is just an older version. doesnt have amny things. and the m4 is good for its tactical perpouses or for its modifications that can be done. there really isnt a diffrence between any of them. ( my opinion) but its mostly true.

Your joking right? The M15 is chambered in 7.62mm and is basically EXACTLY the same as the M-14, except the M15 has a heavier barrel and stock... with a little modifications, the M14 was better than the M15 so the whole project was scrapped.

didnt i say there is little diffrence between all of them. i know the m15 was havier. its also an older version, and longer. the m4 is more for tactical use. itsmoe compact. plus alot newer in technology.

No, actually you said there was no diffrence between the M15, M16 & M4. It's all in the quote above. ;)

Yes, its MUCH smaller than an M4, its even smaller than a stock mp5! I rather carry that around in close quarters than a big cluckly m4 by comparison.

now the M-14 imo is the best weapon of all I shot one about 3 months ago and the power of that gun is nice
