Im an RDX defender. I understand the original posters plight. Ive wasted a bunch of dudes attacking, then they never come back for 10 minutes. Im torn between waiting it out or just attacking myself.

I did the best defense maneuver today. I flancked my own core with about 6-10 atackers in there tearing it up. I ran right up on them, tossed 2 RDX's and suicided them. I got 3 pins instantly! hahah! Battle efficiancy, Explosive, and titan defense!

Just tonight, I waited for the enemy to spawn in their transport chopper.....only to blow it to oblivion with my gunship. Too bad while I was laughing, some dude with a pilum ruined my victory. Oh well.

when...or rather IF :P if i die, i jump using the pod, land on their airtransport to stop people spawning, and attack from behind... most of them ussually dont realize im coming from behind.... and finish the job.

did that trick just now and received 36-4 K/D lol

i love support for defending...

Last night I was commanding, and my titan shield was comprimised. I did the rear flank method decribed here, and ened up with 44 kills in about 7 minutes. My team was able to keep the enemy at bay allowing us to win. We never did find the spawn beacon, but manage to take care of the transport everytime.

Its probably because one of your fellow defenders has either blown up the enemy transport or jumped in and out of it, probably thinking if they cant get onto the titan they cant blow it up. But defenders need the enemy to get onto the titan if they are to score any points. It has happened soooo many times to me now that it really is starting to bug me :ranting:

If you are one of these people plz dont do it, you probably will find that you get more points that way :D

Which is a defender doing his/her job. What is defense if you actually allow the enemy to get in? Sure you think you have a great defensive plan all laid out. APM here, turrets there, with supplies and medical hubs here and there, with you and a trusty <insert weapon>, but for all your preparations all it takes is one foolish (or insanely smart) enemy to screw up all your plans. And while you're waiting around to respawn, this clever enemy has destroyed at least 1~2 consoles, placed a spawn beacon (which you've got to hunt down), and invited half their side to "camp out" and mine places where you're going to show up. And within a blink of an eye, you're dead again. Maybe it's that APM that you couldn't see or it was a combination of a well placed turret with a gunner just waiting for you to pop around the corner, etc.

Bottom line is that a defender doing his/her job properly means that NO enemies are getting on your titan and thus if they do board, they are quickly dispatched and their ability to get back on isn't as simple as selecting a spawning site.

What you are suggesting (allowing the spawn points to exist) is so that you can camp. A practice known as Spawn Camping, which in my book is as bad as stat padding. But let's not end there, how would it feel if I (the enemy) camped where you are going to spawn every time, over and over, again and again. I rack up tons of points and you get to suffer that 15 second spawn timer over and over again throughout the entire match. How does that feel? Yeah, I bet that doesn't feel to good does it?

Next, did you ever look at the score board closely? You get double, let me repeat that DOUBLE the points if you win. So you get 25 kills on a titan defense (which equates to 50 points), but I get 20 kills on titan offense (which equates to 40 points) however, my side won so instead of getting 40 points, I get 80 points. Now which side is the loser? Exactly. So get off your comfortable hidden hole and get in that fray solider. This ain't no game (well it is) so get out there and make 'em count.

After all it what General Patton said:

Now I'll step off my soap box. Thank you.

Well put......

To me, winning is everyting, yeah i wont points, but i dont go looking for them, they come when the come, and when they come, im happy. I like the feeling of winning the game, and having the best squad, this feels much more better then all the points in the world. Knowing your sqaud did the best, and helped with the win.

points...nah...win...YAY!!!

The points will come if you do a decent job, there is no need to let people on your titan simply because you want some easy points ...

Where did I mention anything about getting EASY points? I didn't. I just dont like running around a titan bored out of my skull with 5 or 6 other people who are all on my team, who are also probably bored out of their skulls too for like 10 minutes. Does that sound like fun to you? Not to mention the fact that after running about for 10 mins MOST of the folk who have decided to defend bugger off to do summit else leaving 1 or 2 defenders left who then have to cope with a full transport that slipped by the AA guns, and then proceed to get raped big time and by the time more help arrives, oops too late our cores just been obliterated by the 6 recon guys and 1 support guy.
And BTW is BF2142 not a POINT orientated game? I think u need points to get unlocks and gain rank if I am not mistaken, so the game is meant to allow players to "earn some points"

If you lack the capacity for patience due to attention deficit disorder then maybe playing the defending role on titans is not best suited to you. Defending requires patience! You can’t expect team mates not to attack enemy transports parked on the back of your titan and risk compromising the defense by giving the enemy another platform in which to get a foot hold from which to launch their attacks.

An organized enemy sooner or later will come storming your titan. You’re forgetting squad leader spawn beacons! Last thing you want is an enemy transport parked on your titan and enemy squad spawn beacons! That will result in an offense that can potentially break through your defense.

By implying you want your team mates not to defend your titan by attacking transports you’re giving the impression you want people to cater the game to your needs so you can increase your chances to get more points. Why don't you try the offense role capping silos and defending them Then assault the enemy titan?

I'm one of the dudes the threadstarter hates.

I move the unfriendly transport/gunship of our titan to cap silo's or do some other stuff...

It's not that I don't trust my teams defences, it's winning the game I'm looking for! :yeha:

Not to mention, taking their ship and not destroying it means that it wont respawn for the enemy, so itll be more difficult for them to get shit accomplished.

Exactly the reason why I use it and not destroy it or leave it sitting there after hopping in and out...

Defending on your friendly titan is a force multiplier. One coordinated squad on the friendly titan can probably hold off at least twice as many attackers, probably more.

It could be argued that leaving the spawn points on the friendly Titan is a tactically acceptable amount of risk, as it lures more of the enemy manpower into known chokepoints and ambushes to be engaged on ground of your choice.

This keeps more of the enemy looking at the kit selection window as opposed to being out there on the ground neutralizing and capturing silos.

It comes down to a case by case basis, and the wisdom and discretion of the friendly defenders. If you're all alone on your titan, you'd better destroy that transport ASAP or you'll be quickly overwhelmed. If the friendly defenders have a robust defense prepared and all ingress points covered, then by all means... stay put, watch your sector, and let the points roll in.

4 words describe you "Titan Noob Camping Whore" when ever the shields go down i'm on the titans (ours or theirs) killing the bad guys too but untill then i'm on the ground trying to take the silos. meanwhile theres 2-3 noobs like you running around like idiots on a shielded titan while the rest of us are getting killed trying to stop the titan shields going down

What I do is pod to the enemy transport and land next to it. When someone spawns on it and jumps out I knife them :D

Technically it may be spawn camping but its harder to knife someone than shoot the crap out of them and quite often I do get killed myself.
