Inadequate O/S Privileges

I just recently got a new computer and installed BF2. Well after downloading the full 1.41 patch I tried to get online and play and every server I go into gives me this message that I have "Inadequate O/S Privileges" and kicks me. I really don't want to go through the annoyance of reinstalling BF2 if I don't have to. If someone could help me out I would appreciate it.

Are you running Vista, if so you have to run BF2 as administrator.

Yes I am. I literally just got my computer yesterday. I have the only account so I should have administrator on it. Can you tell me how to set that up so I am admin?

Right click the BF2 icon and select "Run as Administrator" .. or you could turn off UAC in Control Panel. ;)

Had same problem on my new PC when I got it a month ago.

I wonder if you will get the "BF2 memory error" problem too? :S

Figured it out

I hope you have figured it out by now, but for the sake of all those others who are googleing this topic...
I did.
I'm assuming you are running VISTA because I had the same problem.
1st. Uninstall everything.... then reinstall everything. USE THE DEFAULT Directories!
Don't install punk buster until you have the 1.41 patch.
Then download the punk buster setup and install that. Use ALL of the default directories.
Then, right click on the Play Battlefield 2 and click "Run As Administrator"
That should do the trick.

I'm running Vista, and running BF2 as administrator, still BF2 doesn't work. So that ain't the problem...

this is from the punkbuster web site:

I keep getting kicked by PunkBuster for "s"?

Download and run this file from any location, it will check for adware that stops you from being able to play on PB servers. The VX2 adware edits your user rights when it infects your computer, and many programs do not repair this when they remove it.

Click the "Find VX2.betterinternet info" button to make sure that you don't have this adware. If there are no files listed, go on to the last step. If you find the adware files, (it is usually 3 random named dll files) Select all the files found.

Press 'Delete These Files'. The program will delete all files but one that will be deleted on reboot. Allow program to reboot. Once Restarted:

Press 'Guardian.reg'.
Press 'User Agent'.
Press 'Restore Policy'.
Clicking on "find vx2.BetterInternet info" again should show all fields blank.
If you have no adware files, just click on the "Restore Policy" Button

If you get kicked for the following reason (
Inadequate O/S Privileges) that has nothing to do with his Drivers or Punkbuster its because he needs to do the following
Right click the BF2 icon and select "Run as Administrator" ..
