Translated by leon maximus Thank you leon!

Battlefield3
Roumours are running wild about the Battlefield series future. Many believe that 2142 ain't the real sequal to bf2 and that the real three is beeing developed behind the sceens. After a visit to DICE main headquarters we found that many parts was off limits to us jurnalists. According to Marcus Nilsson the development team behind bf2142 are about 80 people. But the entire crew are 200 employees. What are the other 120 doing?

As far as official reports, EA reported that BF2 was the the last page in terms of engine development.

i say bf2142 is going down faster thank a hooker for twenty bucks.
and they will bring out another game to replace it.
alot of the gaming community don,t want a futuristic game.
and they have just realised that. if we did we would be playing starwar battlefront.

i heard on more and more places that bf3 is considered to be a MMO game, with is great, the only problem is that that comes USUALY with a extremely high monthly fee $10-$15+

and of course a brand new engine

and with that my best guess is that is will be a highly improved version of bf2 – just because that was so far the most popular

2142 (although i very much looking forward to it) is just a time filler, no one will play with that thing in 4 - 5 months when much better quality games come out by the dozen, that’s why is EA in such a hurry to bring it on the market before its to late

but IMO massive multiplayer is the future, if i pay $15 a month - i doubt ($5 i would)

this of course earlyest 2008 i would think

it'll be at the higher end of the range you stated, any higher and i think they would drive off loads of gamers.

Edit -- Oh and i think that the reason people prefer games that are set now or in WW2 is becasue people can relate to it more easily and also we understand it. We live today so we can see whats happening and we can kinda understand ww2 becasue of history lessons that cover it alot and also many many films + band of brothers etc

That's what computer games are all about though, whether they've got a strong feel of realism or fantasy.

BF3 sounds pretty interesting, but what can change on BF2 other than different vehicles, maps, kits and armies? maybe make it less "buggy"?

i dont care when it takes place, as long as it has small unlocks for badges(grenades, aimdots, miniscopes, C-mags, the sort) and Large unlocks (whole new weapons systems) for ranks.

just think of it.

-destructible environment
-a LOT better graphic
-armies of sizes of 1000's
-more then 2 armies
-large scale battles of several 1000 people and 100's of vehicles
-build able environment (mobile bridges, radar, repair stations, bunkers, camps/spawnpoints, ...)
-movable and larger airplane carriers (destroyable)
-larger variety of vehicles (usable civilian vehicles in large numbers and variations)
-several game modes (not only conquest or destroy-carrier)
-integration of several game modes in the same battle
-lot more complex unlock tree (but understandable)
-earnable private/personal vehicles OR access to restricted personal vehicle fleet (as unlock OR with rank)
-maps of the size of entire city (REAL CITY) or in size of 100x what we have now as large 64 player maps
-every building fully accessible
-not only a commander but sub commanders (sub commanders controls a territory about the size of 32player map now, from in a mobile commander vehicle that will alert if enemies approach)

and in fact there is more, bf2 is not the top of the possibilities we will ever see, there is a lot ahead of us

the technology is there now, you need a high end pc, but what runs bf2 on medium will run such game on low as well

2142 isnt even a new bf game its a pathic mod and is no where close to being a "sequal" to bf2,and not to mention the graphics are the same and uses the same buggy engine that bf2 uses.

To be honest, a good portion of the games on market are modifications to the Unreal engine.

sure - must be fun to arty all around....

they should bring out some of the good things in Joint Ops.... Snipping (range control, visibility), vehicles (seperate driver & gunner), size of the maps and 164 players in one map

RE: Battlefield 3

I recently read an article explaining that DICE is to be fully taken over by EA in Oct as EA are now the majority share holder. Before EA were just the publisher for Dice with fewer than 50% shares in DICE but now the last Dice share holders holding out have sold their Dice shares to EA making them the majority share holder. The article went on to explain how the Dice development team are moving over this month to becoming full time EA employees and that they’ll be working on the continuation of the Battlefield series. There’s a Battlefield 3 in the pipe line already for sure. I recon we’ll see it in 2008 or 2009.
