You can also manually set your resolution. Go to your console and type:
![]()
Source code
1 SetRes 1600x1200
Where 1600x1200 is your desired screen resolution. It should force the game to that resolution and cancel any black bars if they shouldn't be there.
Don't know if it would work but it would be worth a try I guess.

ATI drivers have Anti-aliasing AND anisotropic filtering BOTH which need to be off (or "use application settings")

Turn them off in the Video card settings not in game settings. Worked for me.

It still looks like that all those freezes and hangups are still caused by problems with Auth.- and MBS Servers down or not responding correctly.
Whenever the game freezes (training or trying to join server), the last lines in my game logfile always contain stuff like this
![]()
Source code
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 ScriptLog: INFORMATION: Initializing MBS client access Log: Initializing AA3 Master Browsing System (MBS) on port 3040 and ip mbs.aa3.americasarmy.com Log: MBS LAN Server Listener port: 9001, Client Listener port: 9000 Log: Authenticating MBS with mbs.aa3.americasarmy.com Log: MBS server init result: 0 ScriptLog: INFORMATION: MBS system initialized. Log: MBSEngine Error -1 Log: MBS Error: -1 (length 33): Log: error -1 (general error) occurred
So something wrong with MBS Server or the game not dealing with MBS correctly.
Also the game doesn't seem to have a good error handling here, otherwise we would get a error message or a timeout, and not a complete freeze ...

I found a solution for some Vista users,
Vista has this program called the Data Execution Prevention. It stops new executable programs from starting if they take large processing space. Here's what you do.
Right click on Computer and click Properties. Then click "Advanced System Settings". After that, click Settings under Performance in System Properties under the Advanced tab. Then click the "Data Execution Prevention" tab. From there, add AA3Game.exe to the list by selecting the Add button and finding it.
Click ok and then try it. Worked for me.

Running the DirectX-Setup Installer might also fix the problem !?
It's located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\america's army 3\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe
Not sure if it would fix your problem, but that folder also contains files like: AUG2007_d3dx10_35_x86.cab, which should contain the missing files your game is missing so much ...

Last night when I had the problem, I downloaded and installed the latest DirectX Driver, and it worked fine after that.
http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/Abo…irectX10-a.aspx
(Click "Download the latest DirectX" on that page)
Download and install that, then click on the exe file as mentioned before. That worked for me.

It's the Auth server, it can't send you your soldiers info, just check availability and when it says it's in use, press cancel, and your soldier should be there
