A guide by #1 by fragrate hosp player in US

Lutzy's Ultimate Guide to SF Hospital
(Now you can have a 5.5 fr on Hosp!)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, first things first. I've already written an SF Hospital guide, but that was back in the day when there were RPG's and

frag nades. (Sigh... memories.) So now I figure I'll write an updated SF Hospital guide for 2.3

I think we should start off with an objective analysis of the map.
It is my humble opinion that the escort team has a significant advantage on this map. The removal of the RPG evened things out slightly, but escort still has the edge, and this is why.

1) They reach the hospital first
2) They've got a superior sniper position (The escort building is much better than the WWR)
3) A rushing VIP can not be caught by garage rushers.
4) They reach the helipad first
5) Their side is generally superior

There are more, but these are some of the more significant reasons.

The only compensation for ambush: They only have to kill one enemy, and he starts the round red (33 health to be exact) with only one clip of ammo.
With that said, I think being on a good ambush team while the escort team is shitty is the best way to earn points.

Alright, I'll now go into detailed suggestions for each position on each side of the map.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**************ESCORT**************
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The VIP
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The VIP is the heart and soul of the escort team, and as such the team should almost always listen to what he has to say since if he dies the whole team loses.

I think if you are a smart VIP and have an even decent team, you should almost never be killed. There are myriad strategies that may be employed while VIP, but I'll only go into ones that I use (I figure that's why you're reading the guide in the first place since you value my opinion on this map)

Ok, so options as the VIP

1) Camp inside Hosp
2) Rush out the bottom

These are the only strategies I ever use, with variations on each one. I will now go into detail on the proper way to camp as VIP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it's very important to let your team know you're camping. My favorite spot to camp is behind the red thing inside the operating room. From here you can pick off any ambush garage rushers that just come charging in. As long as you request a single RPK to go to the West Wing you can pretty much hold it down from this position in complete safety. I've only gotten killed in this spot maybe once or twice in all the 100's of hours I've played this map.

So here's the basic camping strategy. At the start of the round announce that you're camping and ask for help inside. Rush to behind the red desk thing in the operating room. Shoot ambush players as they rush through the garage, but only if they turn towards the middle hallway/back hallway. If they go towards west wing hopefully your RPK will be waiting there to rock them.

After you hide behind the red thing for long enough, head into the back hallway and wait for a teammate to bring you a gun.

You can now either go upstairs to clear pad (which I usually do), go out the 1f Lobby if your team definitely has it secure, or go out the back (generally this is a bad idea as a smart ambush player realizes that if the round takes a long time, then the VIP is most likely going out back and will take up a superior position in ambush insertion alley or west wing loading dock)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to rush as VIP

There are two different kinds of rushes. The full rush, and the partial rush. I am a much bigger fan of the partial rush, as it doesn't rely so heavily on the coordination of your teammates. The partial rush consists of starting the round with the run-bug, heading full speed out the 1f lobby, and then heading to the escort insertion alley. I am a huge fan of this plan, as it allows for the VIP to cover a teammate on the ledge's back while he clears the pad. If you've ever played with my clanmate GZA and myself, you'll see us do this almost all the time.

The full out rush is the one most are more familiar with, and there are two variations of this. The full out rush to the escort access stairs or the rush to the concrete steps that lead to the pad roof. I usually go to the access stairs since I can wait till I hear a confirmation that the pad is secure. If you choose to rush up the concrete stairs you risk being shot from multiple places. (WWR, 2f Lobby, fire escape, pad, spot outside of 2f lobby on ambush side, etc...)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, now for a summary of the VIP strategies. Use the camp in the operating room strategy till you scare the ambush team into garage camping. Once you've successfully got them scared and waiting in the garage, you should full out rush (since roughly half the team will be off hiding and won't be able to touch you) Basically, you should always mix it up and communicate a lot.

Other things you should know: The VIP can not bleed to death! He never needs a medic!
There is almost no reason to ever medic the VIP. It will get you a few points, but other than that it's completely worthless (it doesn't affect CEM)

Weapons you should use as VIP: The RPK, the scoped 74.
YOU SHOULD NEVER USE THE SF-GUNS AS VIP
The only exception to this rule would be for the 203/GP 30.
Trust me, you are 100 times more accurate using the iron sights of the RPK then trying to use the scope on an SF gun.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Escort 18C
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My favorite weapon and in my opinion the most versatile weapon on the whole map. The escort 18C is about as powerful a spot as they come in AA when used properly.

The 18C is too useful to just have a set routine, so instead I will list good spots for the 18C where he is guaranteed to have an advantage over ambush players.

1) The crack outside the escort defense building.
I use this spot a lot. Simply rush from the escort insertion alley to the crack and then go prone and bring up your sights. From here you can cover the west wing as well as the outside underpass and the 1f lobby. You should also practice 203'ing from the crack into the west wing while prone. If you can perfect this shot you will gain numerous kills.
2) Prone by the escort boxes
This is a really good spot to keep the pad and ambush stairs clear from. Simply rush here and prone watching the ambush door and the ambush stairs.
3) 2f escort building
This is pretty much my bread and butter spot. Rush to the 2f escort building and prone in the 3rd window (the one that's partially blown up) from here you can cover the WWR and the underpass remarkably well. Another good thing about this spot is that if you know an enemy is at the bottom of the ambush stairs, you can plunk a 203 perfectly at the bottom of them, usually getting a kill.
4) 3f escort building (2nd window, on the wooden table, crouched)
If you've got a particularly strong opponent who keeps going to the west wing roof, I suggest going to the 3rd floor.

It's easier to get a drop on him from here. From this location you can easily keep the west wing roof clear. You can also see into the right side of the west wing, and you can cover the little plot of dirt over by the west wing that people like to hide in or run through to get to the spot outside 2f lobby.
5) The ledge outside of the escort insertion alley
Everyone knows about this spot, but few people use it properly. I always see these people go all the way out to the far side of the ledge. THIS IS JUST WRONG! If you move that far over, you can get shot from not only the pad, but from the ambush stairs, and from the WWR... There's really no reason to ever go that far over unless you know that the last guy is in the pad and you need to pick him off from there. The correct spot to go to is right inside the doorway to the ledge, crouched. You can see all the way through the entire pad from here and you are a very tough kill. (I've been accused of being invisible while over here!)
6) The hummer outside escort approach prone
Why more people don't use this spot is beyond me. From here you can easily cover the 1f and 2f lobbies. You are also shielded from view in the pad by the hummer. Especially good later in the round when ambush players come out from the hospital to the escort base. A++ spot!

When I use the 18C I pretty much just move from 1 of those 6 spots to another one of them depending on what the situation calls for. Just remember to listen out for sounds. A good set of headphones as well as some common sense will let you play as if you had a radar. Flashes usually either mean pad or bottom of the ambush stairs, etc...

Play smart with the 18C and you'll get tons of kills.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The RPK and AR
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you get the RPK or the AR, you need to be inside delaying the ambush garage rushers. I use the RPK and AR similiarly and as such I've grouped them together. Here are some really good strategies to use with the RPK/AR.

1) Rush into the 1st floor lobby and head towards supply access. Crouch here and wait for people to come out of west wing.

They almost always will be looking towards east hallway and will be easy kills for you as you are partially shielded by the curtain.
2) Rush into the 1st floor lobby and get to the west wing. Use this in combination with VIP camping in operating room and you should do really well.
3) Rush into the 2nd floor lobby and guard the back stairs. Pretty self-explanatory.
4) Rush into the 2nd floor lobby and switch off between watching the back stairs and sitting in operating observation. You can shoot quite a good area from up here.
5) The best tactic with the RPK or AR is to rush into the first floor lobby and head straight into the operating room (You'll need to use run bug and probably be the fire team A RPK for this to work, but it's definitely worth it. Anyway, run straight into the operating room and hide behind the red thing where I suggested you hide as VIP. You'll be able to absolutely dominate from here. You get the cover normally given to the VIP while being green and having 45 extra bullets per clip! One of the most superior spots on the map.

In my opinion if the escort team is even remotely doing their job, the RPK's/AR should always be inside the hospital. If the team really sucks, you might have to sacrifice one of the RPK's to pad duty, but this is generally unnecessary.

Oh, and if you start getting bored, there's always the straight rush under the underpass and kill everything that moves. I use this tactic when I'm really bored and the ambush team is really bad.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The AK-74
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This gun sucks. Use it like a crappy M4.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The SPR
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Uhh... I never use this thing anymore. I disable advanced marksman in my game options and just get an 18C.

If you don't want to do this or think that "OMFG THAT"S SUCH AN EXPLOIT!!!111oneo!"
Then I guess I'll provide some strategy for the SPR.

You should use the SPR much like you would use the M4. Same spots in general with just a little bit more patience.

I think the SPR's prime responsibility is to keep the west wing roof clear.
The SPR is a bit more effective on the ledge than the M4 is.
A decent spot with the SPR is outside escort approach behind the little fence thing. You can easily shoot 1f lobby enemies from here and you'll be almost entirely safe.

I think you should almost always opt for the SF gun over the SPR. Use the advanced marksman trick to do this.

Ok, onwards to the ambush side of gameplay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**************Ambush**************
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, I think the ambush team is the worse team on SF Hospital, but it is certainly playable. In fact, if the escort team has a poor VIP, the ambush team can expect to reap in HUGE amounts of points.

Ok, time for strategies with each weapon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The M4
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Far and away the best weapon on ambush. One thing important to remember is that not all 18C's are created equally! The best 18C is the fireteam B one (use the advanced marksman trick) then comes the fireteam C, then the SL, then fireteam leader A, and finally the other 18C on fireteam A. The reason why the B is the best is because it reaches the west wing doors before anyone else, and can almost always get kills with spam 203. (If the server you are playing on has no spam rules, then you won't be able to do this.) Ok, now for some basic strategies.

1) Rush the west wing doors and 203 the underpass for kills.
2) Rush to outside ambush approach south and prone underndeath the crack to the right of the loading dock. You can pick off escort players on the pad roof or in the pad ambush side.
3) Rush to the back of the fire escape. From here you can keep the middle as well as the ambush side of the pad clear, and after enough time passes you can head to the front fire escape (Warning, this is a dangerous spot) and can cover the escort building, the pad, as well as both lobbies.
4) Hitting up that roof. Now that the RPG is gone, the roof is finally a respectable place to go. If you are going to go to the roof you either want to use the "roof bug" (prone to the right of the AC's and slowly creep forward) from here you can shoot anyone in the 2f escort building but they won't be able to see you. The only problem with this spot is that if they're in the 3f escort you're dead.

The other spot on the roof to go is directly behind the right AC. From here you'll be shielded from the escort building, and you'll only have to worry about 203's. From here you can shoot a straight rushing VIP as he goes up the concrete stairs into the pad.

General strategies: If the round takes a while, chances are the VIP is going out back. Hide in the loading dock, or the insertion alley to get the drop on him.

If escort sucks at smoking or if the VIP is always rushing, head to the west wing doors and fire a 203 at the underpass around 9:30 or so. This can also be done from the roof.

Mix it up when necessary. Don't be afraid to go in the pad or the hospital.

The 2f lobby can be your friend if you get there quick enough and have some 'mates with you. You can usually cover the pad very well from the 2f lobby.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The RPK/AR
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rush into the hospital and stir up hell.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The AK-74
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congrats, your weapon sucks. Use it like an M4, except... Expect to die more.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The SPR
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Uhh.... I told you to use the advanced marksman trick so you don't end up with this. No seriously... You don't want this.

I guess that's it for now. I'll probably update it again soon enough, perhaps with some screenshots, but just thought I'd share some quick secrets on SF Hosp for beginners and pros alike.

I sincerely hope the AAOTracker community enjoys this guide. If it is received with gratitude, I will consider making guides on some of the other maps I play regularly.

Well, that about does it. I hope everyone enjoys it. And remember, if you are a strong SF Hospital player without a clan and would like to join one of the best SF Hospital clans by fragrate, please consider {Wu-Tang} (Shameless plug)

nice one but !!

3) A rushing VIP can not be caught by garage rushers.

Wrong they can get him ( if he's NOT using runbug)!!!

and runbug can get u banned from some servers, dont use it!!

If u have a desent team that can use there smoke, u can rush out of 2 lobby.

Run try operationroom let the door open, run up to 2 on frontstairs, out and left down or over helipad.

Ps. sorry for my bad english

The only way you can get caught is if you don't run bug + they do run bug + west wing doors are open + not a single person on your team goes in the hospital to cover you. --Lutzy

if the vip rushes down , thu the operating room using run bug , he can easyly get caught by garage rushers , they willl seem him in the lobby , but this is as long as no e are in lower hospital its a technique that i have used to great effect....

about your tactics , it explains your low kills per hour .... 18 isnt excatly respectable for someone who has played so much time on a CQB map

for example i played one hell of alot of hours on insurgent camp and have 10,000 and have over a 5+ fr and i average 40 kills per hour, i dont expect every one to be like this , but if you have played alot of hours on one map you should average 30+killsperhour

thats imo

Well, considering you have 10 honor and a private profile, I don't really know what to think of you.

KPH translates exactly to how much you rambo. If I used the RPK for all the hours I played on Hosp I would have a much higher KPH. I'm all about winning the round, regardless of how long it takes.

And 30+ KPH on Hospital is very tough to do. In order to be able to average that you would need to always play on an amazing team.

Simply put, Hospital is not Quake 3 Arena, or some other sort of deathmatch map. KPH isn't as important on that map...

Compare that to my Urban Assault stats where I do in fact have 30 KPH... I think you should know what you're talking about before you call into question my abilities. High KPH on Hosp just means you always rambo.

Way to go.--Lutzy

edit: Simply put, you can not compare KPH on IC and Hosp... The maps are so different it's a wonder why I'm even wasting my time explaining this. IC is a very small, deathmatch sort of map. Hospital is not.

Again a Hospital guide Lutzy ? ;)

But it's a good one, I would like to add some personal things and comments:

Escort

* 2end floor escort building, by the big crack (3th window I believe), is indeed a very nice ubercamp spot. You can watch almost everything there (first + second floor hospital entracen / underpass / front WW entrance / the uber1337 camping spot in the bushes by WW entrance / people who stand on WWR / ambush ledge / fire-escape / people running up helipad concrete stairs on ambush side ) – and you’re safe from WWR if someone is camping in 3rd floor escort building. I you do it right – and check all the spots frequently – fragrates of >20 will not be something special. Only problem is that there are some “1337” veterans who really really don’t like campers in 2end floor escort building.
What is their problem? I’m helping my team better than anyone! I’m covering VIP best! I’m pwning the f*cking place !

Camping is a tactic – if you don’t like it – go play UT – there’s no room for campers there with the fast gamespeed.

Something else: Ever tried to go to the spot with 2 people in 1 fireteam? One person is looking @ underpass en hospital entrances – the other one is clearing helipad and ambush fire-escape area. Ambush will get crazy. The hours I’ve done it with my buddy on Skype – ambush was keeping calling us cheaters. It’s just teamwork – just clearing all the e you can see (and yeah – you can really see a lot from that spot)

* Rushing garage as VIP is great imo. You will have to know a few things for sure:
- Your team RPK must runbug rush into the hospital (if possible your teammate on skype or TS – so he knows what to expect – or so he can warn you for WW lobby rushers)
- Ambush team must not rush garage with like 8 persons (4 is perfect)
- the lag must not be too great (with big lag – you can forget headshotting with 30 bulllets)
- Ambush must not be expecting you (just rush garage 1 or 2 times in 7 rounds)

Now – as VIP – rush garage and headshot the e’s down – if there are more than 3 – you will know very quick if you’re gonna make it (taking them all down I mean). You WILL make it if they are running lined up after each other. You won’t make it if they’re spreading as soon as they see you. You won’t make it if you see some lousy campers scatter throughout the garage.

If you don’t make it – shoot the first one or 2 – and run back into the hospital – your fellow RPK is there – and he’ll finish the job.

If you make it – DON’T run through the garage in 1 time. Wait for your teammates – and cover your back for late WW lobby rushers.

After all that – when you’ve arrived at ambush spawn – split up with your teammates. Perfect situation :
1 guy is taking WWR
1 guy is taking WW entrance @ the same time – from there he can also shoot every e @ helipad concrete stairs – bushes hiding spot – and more
(for these 2 guys ---> REPORT IN REPORT IN REPORT IN)
You as VIP go to the loading dock – walk slowly – first check helipad building – second ambush stairs – at last check ambush ledge – ATI card owners will see e if he is hiding there.

* VIP will never get out of hospital when rushing if ambush is using running bug – so COVER THE VIP PLEASE. I’m still laughing @ the >250 times when I shot the VIP in the back of his head @ 9.29.

Ambush
* Smoke?

Almost nobody uses smoke - and that's wrong. Some real fine smoking tactics.

- Rush with your 18C upstairs too fire-escape, smoke helipad by the crates (so nobody in escort building can see you). Then jump on the ambush ledge. Take out the helipad rushers (maybe also an escort camper on escort ledge) (it is also a good idea to nade the end of helipad building - for escort e standing by the escort acces stairs door). Now your teammates can succesfully rush helipad building. Your smoke is covering them from e by the crates on escort side of second floor hospital entrance. As soon as the smoke clears up - take a quick look in escort building - if you don't see someone - get the f*ck out of there - you're a sitting duck. Meanwhile doing al these things - wach out ambush approach for rushing e - most of the times they are too busy checking all the hiding spots - so you can take them out easily.

- Rush with your 18C / RPK to WW entrance - rush outside to the vertical ladder that goes to 2end floor hospital entrance. Let somebody smoke the area between the top of the ladder and 2end floor entrance (or do it yourself) - now rush up and KEEP RUNNING. Take a fast look in 2end floor hospital entrance (maybe you see the VIP) - but keep running. Take out the suprised e by the crates on escort side - AND KEEP RUNNING. You'll have too keep running - because you're a running duck for escort building campers. As soon as you've run far enough - people in escort building can't see you anymore and the fun can begin. Take a look on escort helipad concrete stairs and helipad building. From this point you've got many options - rush escort building / rush escort spawn -> escort ledge / keep camping. You'll have to do all these things quick cause it's a hazardous area - but when you do it right - the 30 kph target comes closer and closer.

I've never been a big fan of the garage rush, but I suppose it's possible if

1) Ambush isn't expecting it at all

2) You've got cooperation from teammates.

Thanks for the suggestions. --Lutzy

Really nice, though I don't play hospital very often.

I also like camping at backstairs just a little bit on the stairs, looking at the door hole.

Opfor usually won't except you there and come in running, easy kills.

thanks alot for this tutorial lutzy ..

edit : 1 more technique you left out.. if your on ambush and u have the 18C use the runbug to the west wing storage but instead of nading (like lutzy sugested) bring up your scope and pop those nubs as they run in... now i know some people is going to say this is crazy but 1 time i got over 10 kills just doing this right here.. this is really great to do when there is a no 203 for 30 second rule so then you wont get spammed.. just make sure that the sever isn't to laggy because if your green bar drops you myaswell turn around because if u can hit nubs on the run with at that distance on auto with no green bar, your way better than me  .. 1 more thing.. you might have to kill some camper at the truck or at escort first floor.. but if you have the sniper and 18C .. this is no problem because if u runbug it then you can normally shoot them as they are going prone..
Real peace is not the absence of conflict, its the presence of justice.

Nice lutzy, really nice,

Just if you want to get youre FR higher,
i suggest rushing to WW Roof by boxes on esc side,
and then just go little forward and nade WW entrance or Ambush Approach..Always works, u usually get 1-3 enemies :)
Or rush to WW Roof by helipad building (On ambush side where are that boxes), and nade ambush if theyre camping there cause scared them with that nades...Works like a charm

Or rush to WW Roof by helipad building (On ambush side where are that boxes), and nade ambush if theyre camping there cause scared them with that nades...Works like a charm

That would be great if you only got nades at Hospital :P .. how long don't u play that map?

about your tactics , it explains your low kills per hour .... 18 isnt excatly respectable for someone who has played so much time on a CQB map

for example i played one hell of alot of hours on insurgent camp and have 10,000 and have over a 5+ fr and i average 40 kills per hour, i dont expect every one to be like this , but if you have played alot of hours on one map you should average 30+killsperhour

thats imo

Compare that to my Urban Assault stats where I do in fact have 30 KPH... I think you should know what you're talking about before you call into question my abilities. High KPH on Hosp just means you always rambo.

Way to go.--Lutzy

edit: Simply put, you can not compare KPH on IC and Hosp... The maps are so different it's a wonder why I'm even wasting my time explaining this. IC is a very small, deathmatch sort of map. Hospital is not.

if you mean by rambo - dont camp then i agree
hospital and i.c are both high speed action maps.... the difference is hospital is full of higher honor , noobs
at least the noobs on i.c have lower honor

you can play 300 hours on i.c you are maybe 60-70 honor

you play 300 hours on hospital and you are 90 honor

and honor doesnt make you better

a 100 honor from pipeline, has played maybe 2500 hours of this game

a 100 honor from hospital has played maybe 500 hours

if they have a match the pipeline player wins every round , because he has the exp of the extra 2000 hours.

that was just to prove a point, just because people have high honor doesnt mean they are good, espically since they play hospital (same is true @fls assault) that is an excuse to rush them - for easy kills

rushing on hospital is easy, taking it slow and playing smart (not camping) is even easier my advice to people who read this thread is, play careful and use your intelignece and you shall surely obtain a high fr , and well over 25kills per hour.

Wow, you sure did learn me good.

What do you post on every tactics thread not about hospital with this?

Great, you play pipe and you suck at it.
