Welcome, to a very lengthy part one of a three part SF Courtyard guide!
Many (including me) consider this, almost the "perfect map" no spam problems, random spawns and random objectives, and a great mix of close, medium, and long ranged combat.
To start off the guide, I'll start with the spawns. There are a total of three spawns, one for you and one for the enemy. That means that there are a possible two spawns for the enemy to be at. In addition there is a possible extraction site, where no one spawns but the C objective is located there.
West Perimeter Spawn
East Ledge Path Spawn
Northwest Main Gate Spawn
East Perimeter Extraction Site
Note: This is only a possible extraction. The other extraction sites can be other spawns.
Now, we'll move on to the objective locations. As I said, there are many random A and B objective locations. As assault you must first talk to the civilian informant (A), next you must secure the briefcase (B), and finally take it back to the extraction site (C). As defense you don't know where A or C objectives will be, however hopefully you will learn something about the possible locations courtesy of this guide...
First I shall start with the A objectives, then the B objectives. There are a possible six positions for the informant to be. For B there are a possible three places for it to be.
Second Floor West Civilian Building
East Civilian Building
Bell Tower Building
First Floor West Civilian Building
*NOTE* The following picture is the building in which the above objective is located.
Southeast Civilian Building
Central Civilian Building
*NOTE* For all the A objectives the people standing or sitting are the informants. You need to talk to them to complete the objective.
Now, I'll give you the B objectives. As I said, there are three. Two are below ground, and one is above ground, however you can access that one from the basement. When you take them, you pick it up and must bring it back to the extraction.
Radio Tower Building
*NOTE* The case itself is on the table to the left. The window my crosshair is on is a window in which you can get out of, but not come inside. Also, the following picture is the outside of the Radio Tower, just to give you an idea.
Bell Tower Sub-Basement Objective Room
*NOTE* The following is a zoomed out view of the above objective... The objective itself is on the left.
Well Building Objective Room
*NOTE* The case is on the right table, I wanted to zoom out a bit so you can see where it is.
Well, this ends part one. Next I'm gonna show you some camping spots, so stay tuned.
Welcome to part two of a three part SF Courtyard guide!
Well, since they wouldn't let me double post, I'm just gonna continue on with my guide, until someone posts. So anyway, in part two I'm going to show you some neat camping spots. Camping is an important tactic in this map, I myself do not like camping, I find it boring. However, some of these spots are good to look at multiple areas, so I won't have to sit in one place for the entire round.
How this is gonna work is I will type a location in, show you a picture of the spot, and then explain its uses.
Central Courtyard Guard Tower
This is a zoomed out view of the building. This is my personal favourite spot. You can look at nearly all the main parts of the map, and you move around a bit so it doesn't get to boring. Note you need to go up a ladder to get into it, then make a left into the door.
You can watch the bell tower...
You can watch the road next to the tower...
the road leading up to the radio building. Note, this is good to get them if they are spawned at the West Perimeter.
The road continuing past the radio building, good for protecting the B objective after they secure it and they attempt to run to the extraction.
And finally, the field to the left of the road you went on. Good again to watch if they are heading to an extraction point.
As you can see, there are many uses for this spot. Which is why it's one of my favorites.
Bell Tower Building Basement
This spot is good for protecting the Bell Tower B objective. For defense, unless you left a door open or they already blew one up, assault must use a door breacher to open up the doors to get inside. So obviously you will be able to hear it when they do. Therefore the only other way to get in would be through which you are guarding. This works but gets boring if they don't come for a while.
Well Building Basement
*NOTE* Here is what you should be able to see with your sights up...
This spot is good for protecting the Well Basement objective. As you can see with the first image you stand to the right of the "door" and lean over to see through the hole. There is a ladder behind you, however, unless it has been opened or blown up, assault needs a door breacher to flank you, andobviously you can hear that and be prepared. All other means of entry are from what you are guarding. This one is good but again, it gets boring.
Central Civilian Building
*NOTE* Here is a first person view. Note where the crosshair is pointing, I will talk about that in a second...
This spot is good for protecting the informant on your left. Experienced players might check up there, but even if they do you should still kill them. The only problem is where the crosshair is, for they can shoot you through that window. Only the Courtyard veterans would bother even to look through, but just as a heads up.
East Civilian Building
The way you use this spot is you hide behind the racks of sacks (I'm a poet and I didn't even know it) and you can either lean out the right or hide and see through the tiny tin crack in the center. I don't like this spot personally, but it is good to defend the informant above you.
Now we'll go into a couple random spots, not defending any particular thing. I don't approve of these but they are useful spots to camp. Lastly, I will show you two ways not listed in the guide to enter the basement, should the need arise.
East Ledge Path
This spot is kind of useful for protecting against extraction, but it's more for just camping. You can see a lot of things, however.
Southeast Civilian Building Courtyard
This is another spot which you can see a lot of things, however this particular one you are left open to be shot from many places. I have seen people go up here at the start of the round, but then leave.
Finally, I'll show you two ways to get into the basement.
East Ledge Path Tunnel
Radio Tower Entrance
*NOTE* You must run through the vines and down the ladder to go into the basment, the opening is under the bridge.
Well, there you have it. This ends the picture part of my guide.(Yes I know, no more pretty pictures)
Next I'll talk mostly about tactics and some of the uses for the information I've provided here.
Welcome to the final part of my three part SF Courtyard guide!
Here we shall talk about general tactics for the map. All this knowledge I have provided, I will now put in practical use.
First we'll talk about objectives. As defense you SAI won't show you were A is, but you can phsyically find it yourself. If you so choose, go around to all the possible informant spots. If you fidn the A objective, you can use one of my camping spots, or at least you should let your team know that the A objective is in there.
In addition, if you so choose you can head from spawn to find out where the B objective is. This is especially useful when on assault, so after your team gets A you can quickly pick up B and run back. If you do it fast enough and steathly enough you can pick up the objective without them even knowing where it was. This way they can't even attempt to block you way out of the basement or building. On defense it is important to, because if assault gets A you can already be prepared to defend B, or at least let your team know where the objective is.
If as defense you failed to do either, and assault got the case, you can narrow down which extraction they have to go to. For example, they obviously won't go to your spawn, so don't even bother guarding there. Next, you can watch both the East Perimeter Extraction Site and the East Ledge Path Spawn fairly closely, since they are both close enough. You could try the East Ledge Path camping spot, but you won't be able to cover the Perimeter Extraction site fully. I'm pretty sure there is no correlation to their spawn and the extraction site, other than the ones I listed above. If anyone has any info on this, please post it up, so as to help other members.
I've noticed that a lot of people like to zig zag when they run, but the laws os psychics show that running in a straight line works better, since quickest way between two points is a straight line. Just to settle that...
Also, this is a map which depends a lot on camping, so be sure to take it slow and quiet, and check every corner. Make use of the lean feature, it could save your life.
Certain ladders and floors make noise when you walk accross them, be acquianted with these objects and learn to use them to your advantage. This map relies heavily on sound, so turn up the volume to hear footsteps or shooting, etc.
Finally, I suggest for you SOPMOD to use an Acog 4x, in conjunction with the m203. Of course this is my personal pereference, but I know it is better because you can get less ROE and better shots. One misconception I see is that "aimpoint has no recoil" Well, I highly doubt that the sight effects the recoil: It's the gun, not the sight. Of course, if you really want it that bad, I won't stop you from using it.
And finally, we have reached the end of my guide. I hope you learned something from it, and if you notice something wrong or something I have missed in this guide, just post it up and I'll make a note of it.
See you on the battlefield,
Chaminade.
