Note#2 Make sure this line: "Version"="2.x.0" points to the exact prior version (not the patch version)
Example: I'm on v2.8.0 and I'm patching to v2.8.1. The line would read "Version"="2.8.0"

Now Try to Patch

Note#3 If you still get this error, then the error is still in the registry, however it falls under windows installation components and you will need to to reinstall the prior version and then patch it. You would not be

It's so ridiculous that Devs waste time on a patch that won't work unless you manually reconfigure your registry 2x. Like I said before, they should stop wasting time on AA2 and start PERFECTING what they will be doing on AA3.

This is not the fault of the patch or the developers. For some reason the registry key is missing on your pc.

Ummm....so everyone having this problem with the patch installation is missing a reg key? And you are suggesting that it's not a path or Dev fault?...I don't get it.

I have never had this kind of problem installing a patch or installing more than one version.

Although the link you provided seemed somewhat informative, it is no substitution for either an adequate working patch or a proper full install.

I guess I'll just have to wait for the NEXT patch..lol

Still not working for me.
tried every register fix.
I completely removed AA, installed 2.8, then patched 2.8.1, and patch to 2.8.2 still doesnt work

When the installer ignores your custom selected temp and shell folders, all of which are off the C drive, and still insists on putting 1.7GB on C, there's something wrong. And even after the registry fixes, it doesn't work, something's really wrong.

I know AA is free (except to a US taxpayer) but that's no excuse.

This installer is a failure.
